SPEAKING EXERCISE

As a motivated independent learner, how can you turn what you’ve learned (take the vocabulary or ideas from this activity) and turn it into a fluency practice speaking activity? Here are some ideas but you can always come up with your own:
Step 1

1) Create a story with at least 10 vocabulary words you’ve learned and record yourself reading it out loud. Try to include intonation and feelings as you read it out.
or
2) Share your opinion on the main ideas and concepts expressed in this activity. What do you think/feel about what you read or listened to? Do you agree or disagree and why?
or
3) Give a short presentation combining new vocabulary and your opinion on what you listened to or read.
or
4) Create a dialogue/conversation using new vocabulary or ideas and record yourself pretending to be both roles
or
5) Create your own speaking activity that you’d prefer to do….

Step 2

a.) Write or type out what you will say
b.) Record your voice a few times for pronunciation and fluency practice
c.) Save it onto your computer so you can listen back and monitor your progress
d.) Listen to yourself rate yourself from 1-5 see if you can point out weaknesses in pronunciation/intonation/fluency record again because PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS!

You can use this area to type your thoughts before recording.
