1. It is clear that individual lecturers judge work on a subjective basis when they assess the written work of students and this concern raises questions about whether the assessment procedures are reliable or not.


  2. Reliability means that individual lecturers are consistent in the marking of students’ work and also that they are consistent with each other in marking a piece of work.
